Pictures

I don't have a digital camera, if I did this place would probably be overloaded with pictures because I like taking them, that doesn't mean I am good at it, it simply means I enjoy it. Jenifer has a camera but it has been broken for some time now, since they are gone for the week nd I am taking care of their animals (bottle lambs) I was here and saw the camera and figured that I couldn't make it any worse since an electronic device like that cheap camera is really a throw away deal when broken. I fiddled with it and got it working! I was really surprised, I have no idea what I did to fix it either. So, since I had to test it I thought I would post some pictures since I know I really enjoy it when others post pictures on their blogs. I don't have any real interesting or nice pictures right now since I just ran outside and snapped a few to test the camera, soon I'll go out for some better ones and post them so keep an eye out for them!

Here is the generator/charger I put together. It's 12/24 volt slow speed and either charges the battery bank (which I need to clean) or will run the inverter directly. Right now I have the batteries wired as 12 volt which works good because the engine barely has to go off idle to charge at that rate (15 volts really) and it's good on fuel that way as well as really quiet. Soon I'll build a shed for it instead of the straw. Regular car light bulbs and wiring works great for the lighting and fixtures in the cabin. You can see the brown light switch next to the generator, which is the starter and engager switch, it starts the engine and connects the charging system at the same time. On cold days I disengage the charging system for a bit to warm up the engine a little without load. When it warms up this summer I'll put a switch in the house so I can just flip the switch and the power comes on.
And here is the unexpected project. One day I was out in the yard cleaning up sticks after having cut up the tree (all with a hand saw and axe) and I found evidence of a cement walkway leading to the barn, after cutting away the grass and dirt here it is. You can also see where I aam tearing out the addition on the back of the house. I intend to put a bigger addition in the same place as I want a bigger kitchen and a better downstairs bathroom plus more bedrooms upstairs.

And here is what happens to an apple tree when it has been neglected for 30 years, as well as what happens to a neglected apple tree after I get my hands on a saw and pruning clippers!

I happen to enjoy fruit trees more than just about anything, give me 20 acres, a bunch of fruit trees, some berries, grapes, flowers, sheep and a bunch of bees and I am a pretty happy guy. Oh, a good piano should go along with that too.

And here is a tiny glimpse of the smoke damage in the house, I have to ter out all of the interior and replace it, or in the case of this railing, sand it all down to wood and refinish it. Maybe I'll get to that next winter!
I am running out of time for doing this so I'll plan on posting more pictures another day. My concord grapes came so I have to get the holes dug for them as well as get the asparagus beds worked up and the weeds out. I hope I can transplant the asparagus into it's new permanent home next week. I've also got some roses and walnut trees to transplant so I'll be busy with the shovel.

P.S. You'll have to look at the YCFA blog at www.ycfa.blogspot.com. WE haven't linked to it from the actual site yet. It's got lots of information updated regularly.
