I read this quite a while ago and it had a profound effect on my driving. Before I was a speed maniac, meaning I would drive just as fast as the conditions allowed regardless of the speed limit sign, which usually meant triple digit speeds. Crossing the state of North Dakota at 140 miles per hour may be a great time saver but isn’t wise. This interesting little quote made me think a little bit about my responsibility when at the wheel of a 4,000 pound piece of steel.
The Ten Commandments for motorists.
Thou shalt hold nothing in thy hands but the steering wheel.
Thou shalt not make unto thee a God of thy horsepower.
Thou shalt not take the center lane in vain.
Remember the driver behind to help him pass thee.
Honor thy father and thy mother and all other passengers.
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit inebriated driving.
Thou shalt not steal- not thy neighbor’s eyes with thy headlights, nor his ears with thy horn, nor his enjoyment with thy litter.
Thou shalt not bear false witness with thy signals.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s right of way.
I think this is good for everyone to consider.

Someone we knows used to drive very recklessly, but it's much better to drive wrecklessly :D
He and his family no longer drive over the speed limit. They consider it wrong, and all wrong doing is sin, therefore you should be driving within the limits the authorities have imposed. I'm not sure if I agree totally with them, but it is something to think about.
I can't IMAGINE driving 140 around here. ND must be nice to do it in, all that empty space. Still dangerous though.
